Hear the wind that comes down from the Throat.
The Greybeards open the path for those who would listen. The Way of the Voice is not a thing taken; it is a thing offered, by hard climb and longer silence, to those who arrive at the mountain having earned the right to be heard.
Let it be known across the holds:
- Petitions for instruction may be lodged at the gates of Ivarstead by any pilgrim who climbs the seven thousand steps in fast and quiet contemplation.
- The council does not accept letters carried by paid courier; what is asked of the Voice must be carried in person.
- A pilgrim who turns from the path may try again only when the next true winter has passed.
The mountain remembers each foot that has set upon it. The wind keeps no debts but its own. Speak well, traveler, or do not speak at all.
