We've kept you waiting long enough.
We present the first development update and the introduction of the Beta Team.
We're taking an ambitious approach and we want to let you all in on the process. We're currently working on bringing a real Skyrim experience to players with our own custom Skyrim MMO mod and roleplay gamemode. Due to the painstaking work of multiple teams attempting to sync Skyrim over more than a decade, we have been able to study and adapt for the long term future of Skyrim Multiplayer. We now need rigorous testing as many of our features are breaking new ground.
The scale and complexity of this project has been a technical and game design challenge for the ages. We're in the final stages of a state of the art OneSync-esque synchronization system for players and ALL of Skyrim. Beyond that, we've had to redesign and rebuild nearly every Skyrim feature for a massively multiplayer world and economy, balance the huge Skyrim skill tree with our
own custom class system inspired by Elder Scrolls Birthsigns, make available all public activities and side jobs, and built a custom voice system inside the actual game audio. To date our small team has done the work of a medium to large MMO and integrated a ton of incredible features we're excited to share.
Our mod uses the SkyrimPlatform Typescript API with hundreds of custom script nodes and dozens of our own native systems including SKSE plugins and full Skyrim ESP modules. Our lightweight installer installs all the required files and our launcher. The launcher has the ability to Update, Uninstall, or Temporarily Restore Vanilla with the press of a button. We've purposely made it simple so people can easily manage their own Skyrim and play offline. We've given multiple options to utilize mod managers or install our required mods manually with the launcher checking all files individually.
Aurbis is built like an old school MMO or roleplay game, where most of your activity is done in the chat system. A lot of the gamemode will be utilized via commands that display data and interact with the world. We've avoided clunky UIs in an attempt to bring back a text based command experience and are excited to hear feedback on the chat system. We will have seperate heavy roleplay text and VOIP servers as these are strongly mediums for what Skyrim and our mod is capable of.
Our team is becoming spread extremely thin so we'll be looking for skilled and dedicated people to join our Beta Team. We've built a beta testing system tracked by our Discord bot Aetherius currently sitting at 82 features that need to be tested and validated in return for in-game rewards and leaderboards. This will be a CLOSED BETA for our team but we're confident that if things go smoothly we're looking at stress-testing OPEN BETA in potentially the coming weeks.
A full post introducing the Beta Team and tons of sneak peaks are coming. Thanks for sticking around, our journey is just beginning.
