Death Has Weight
When you die or fall in battle, your character enters a downed state and begins a death timer of 90 seconds. Corpse inventories are available for looting during the downed state.
How it works
Death is not a reset. During the downed state your body remains in the world, your corpse inventory can be looted, and allies may have a short window to treat you. If the death timer completes, your inventory is completely wiped and you respawn in a roughspun tunic and rags at one of the Halls of the Dead across Skyrim, temporarily debuffed.
If you've received a specific blessing from a Priest or Priestess of the Divines, they'll be alerted to your state and you'll have to await their treatment, or choose to respawn at their Temple Sanctuaries after 5 minutes.
Permadeath is separate from ordinary death. When a character falls for the last time, their page locks, eulogies can be written, and the Annals preserves the record.
Commands
/respawn - Return through the standard death respawn flow or, when blessed, through the Temple Sanctuary flow.
/kill - Enter the death countdown when your character is stuck and there is no other way out.
